REI sources local wind energy for six Texas stores, invites statewide members to choose affordable green energy for their homes
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, REI Co-op is inviting eligible Texas members and employees to buy affordable renewable energy for their homes. This option is made available by REI’s electricity purchase from a local windfarm to power six of its Texas stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas. While REI has powered its stores with 100% renewable energy since 2013 through a mix of on-site solar, renewable utility products, and renewable energy credits (RECs), the Co-op is working to scale its sustainability impact by making green energy available to its members and employees.

An independent panel of industry experts and corporate energy and sustainability decision makers has recognized Intuit’s Purely Green Affinity Program as The Most Innovative Off-Site Corporate Renewables Program. This program, designed by RPD Energy, was the recipient of the 2019 Smart Energy Decisions Innovation Award for that category at a recent awards dinner held at the Houstonian.
